New data on the technology for manufacturing hand-made pottery from the excavations of the Ves-5 settlement in the Suzdal field region

The technological study of hand-made pottery was carried out using A.A. Bobrinsky's method with regard of the historical-cultural approach. In the material investigated, traditions for using clay with significant admixtures of sand were mostly applied. The formulas used for preparing the clay paste were singled out. A tradition of adding grog to the paste is observed less frequently. Using grog as well as mixed recipes points to the cultural contacts between various groups of population in the end of the I millennium.
