The paper describes results of dating the osteological remains from the Chekalino IV site using the accelerator mass-spectrometry method. The radiocarbon dates are divided into five groups, with the first four groups consistent with the identified typological assemblages of the Neolithic-Eneolithic vessels. The period of the first visit to the site in the Early Neolithic period can be linked to the transition from the VII millennium to the VI millennium/first quarter of the VI millennium BC. The Middle Volga population groups occupied the site in the last quarter of the VI millennium – first quarter of the V millennium BC. The materials of the Early and Middle Eneolithic are dated to the second half of the V millennium BC. It is acceptable to put the upper temporal limit of the period when the Late Eneolithic assemblages represented by the Gundorovo and Chekalino ceramics types were used around the transition from the IV millennium to the III millennium – early III millennium BC. The new dates made it possible to clarify and, in some cases, make corrections in the earlier dates obtained using liquid scintillation counting for mollusk shells, soil and organics from ceramics.
