New data on the palaeomagnetic chronology of the Akhshtyrskaya cave site

The article presents recently obtained new data on the palaeomagnetic analysis of cultural deposits in the Akhshtyrskaya cave site (Adler district, Sochi). 18 samples from the upper part of layers 4/1, 3/2, and the bottom part of layer 3/1 show negative magnetization, which probably evidence presence of the geomagnetic digression Kargapolovo-Lachamp dating within 45-39 thousand BP. All lithological associations contain single Middle Palaeolithic industry (once termed as the upper Moustierian layer) culturally different from the Middle Palaeolithic industry present in the bottom part of the cave deposits.
