This paper focuses on the analysis of craniological material from the burials of Kanguy period in southern Kazakhstan. The authors examined the cranial series from Borizhary burial. The data proves the distribution of artificial deformation which was possibly adopted from the steppe zone of Western Siberia, Southern Urals, and Western Kazakhstan. The results of comparative analysis suggest that population of Borizhary was relatively homogenous, while the full range of variation did not go beyond the frames of Europid (Caucasian) race. The population of Southern Kazakhstan was connected with the representatives of djetyasar, kenkol, kaunchi, and kerdery cultures. The data provides us with the grounds to support a suggestion about the common origins of the peoples of those cultures and to substantiate the necessity to consider all of the mentioned above cultures as variations of the single community, despite the existence of different anthropological components in their population.
