New large-flower forms of paniculate phlox (Phlox paniculata - Polygonaceae)

The purpose of the study is the selection of stable, most decorative large-flowered seedlings of panicled phlox and their description. As a result of the selection of plants from the seed progeny of panicled phlox (Phlox paniculata) in 2022, the most original and decorative of them were selected. The greatest interest was represented by plants with large flowers - more than 4 cm in diameter, of various colors, with beautiful inflorescences, a general habit, resistant to various adverse factors. The paper cha- racterizes and describes, taking into account the rules of the International Code of Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants, 20 new cultivars of panicled phlox. Diagnostic features are given, type material is selected, which is stored in the herbarium of the Siberian Federal University (KRSU). Almost all selected seedlings were of average height, and only in one case the height exceeded 1 m (Liliya Kashina). In terms of flowering, most of the plants can be attributed to medium-early (from mid-July) and medium (early August), singly - to medium-late, blooming in the second half of August phloxes (Arbuznyj, Dikocvet, Professor Tupicyna). A very decorative group is made up of cultivars with the color of flowers changing depending on the type of lighting (day, twilight). Under sunlight, the color of purple-red tones turns to bluish-blue in the evening (Gogol', Kazyr, Polnolunie Professor Cherepnin, Serafima Kravchuk, Serebryanka). Some of the plants have an original coloration with a characteristic pattern: Avel' (white petals with a purple speck appearing in cool weather), Sayanskij samocvet' and Turchaninov, which have uneven shades of violet-blue tones on the petals. Cultivars with brightly colored flowers of pink-red and purple tones - Arbuzny, Zemlyanichnaya Polyana, Vechernij Krasnoyarsk, Laskovyj, Matil'da. Selected seedlings have a bright color of flowers, a specific combination of individual traits, stability in culture and can be used for landscaping parks and individual plots.
