New materials about bows from Kenkolsk culture

The finds of bone plates for a bow from Kenkolsk culture localities from the Chuy Valley in Kyrgyzstan were analyzed in the article. The author noted the main results of the studying of composite bows of ancient nomads from Xiongnu-Xianbei period. The various kinds of end-side plates, composite side plate and median frontal plates, which could be used for a bow shape reconstruction, were presented in the article. As a result of the analysis some new design features of Kenkolsk composite bows were revealed. The important role of weapons for distant fighting in the weapon system of Kenkolsk ancient nomads was confirmed.
