Archaeological sites near the village of Krasny Yar have been known since the mid-20th century. The field research paradigm of that time limited the possible distribution area of settlement sites within the terraces of the Ob River and its tributaries. During the latest decades of field research in the Novosibirsk Ob region, new data indicating other patterns in the arrangement of habitation sites have been derived. In 1993, the settlement site Krasny Yar-6 was discovered in the vicinity of Krasny Yar on the left bank of the Uen River, the left tributary of the Ob. It was located in the terrace rear part, across the aeolian ridge. Testing trenches were made in housing depressions. The test excavations yielded an ornamented fragment of a Bronze Age ceramic vessel. In 2022, the site was re-examined in the course of rescue archaeological works under the road construction project. New information was derived: the number, shape and location of housing depressions were specified. It was found that ancient constructions were located on the slopes of the ridge. From 4 to 7 smaller hollows are located around quadrangular depressions with the side over 10 m long. Testing pits yielded archaeological materials suggesting seasonal habitation of the site. Based on the application of the ethnoarchaeological approach and analyses of settlements with context, it was assumed that this settlement was a winter station. The prospect of studying such settlements is seen as part of the elaboration of regional patterns of the historical and cultural development of region.
