New vectors for urban tourism development in St. Petersburg as a driver of repeated visits to a tourist destination

The article considers the main approaches to the concept of "urban tourism", reveals the actual changes in consumer behavior in tourism. The problem is revealed by the author from the standpoints of economics, geography, cultural studies, psychology and philosophy, which made it possible to formulate a comprehensive understanding of the new functions and meanings of urban tourism. The presented study analyzes the statistical data of inbound tourist flows to St. Petersburg for 2022: the geography of residence of incoming tourists, the frequency of trips to St. Petersburg and the main purposes of travel. Study the references on the Internet and the data of the collective intelligence resource allows us to build an “association cloud” for St. Petersburg, which makes it possible to evaluate promising, and most importantly, popular areas for the development of urban tourism. As conclusions, the author proposes recommendations for the development and promotion of new tourism programs that will solve the problem of the seasonality of tourism in St. Petersburg, help to attract new target groups of tourists and stimulate repeated visits.
