In the article the first experience of introducing the memories of the Kuban Cossack emigrant Mikhail Vasilyevich Guba into the scientific circulation is presented. The contents of a part of the memoirs related to the events of the Civil War in the South of Russia are given and characterized. After graduating from the school of ensigns in Yekaterinodar in 1917 the author of the memoirs was sent to the Caucasian front of the World War I, then returned to Kuban, to his native stanitsa Chernoerkovskaya, where he witnessed and participated in a flared up civil confrontation. Mikhail Guba actively participated in the military operations on the side of the Volunteer Army. In the summer of 1918, at Tsaritsyn, he was wounded and found unfit for further military service. He met the defeat of the White Army in Anapa, while in an administrative position, and managed to escape the persecution, hiding in the vicinity of the city. The landing operation of General S. G. Ulagai allowed M. V. Guba to return home for a short time, then flew to the Crimea on landing ships, and thence to Constantinople. The personal perception of the experiences, the rich content of the memoirs are of obvious scientific interest.
