New sunflower variety UV 1071

A new ultraearly maturing sunflower variety, UV 1071, has been bred at the Federal Center of Agricultural Research of the SouthEast Region. On average, during the research period (2018–2024), the new variety UV 1071 surpassed the standard variety Skorospely 87 in seed and oil yields by 0.14 and 0.09 t/ha, respectively, in the competitive variety trial. Additionally, the variety UV 1071 showed higher resistance to the broomrape races (A–F), downy mildew and leaf rust compared to the standard. The UV 1071 variety was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements in 2024 and approved for use in the Lower Volga (8) region.
