A new method for synthesis of bismuth derivatives Ph4Biх (x = Cl, NO3) and tetraphenylbismuthonium mesitylenesulphonate

By reacting equimolar amounts of triphenylbismuth dichloride and dinitrate with pentaphenylbismuth in benzene, tetraphenylbismuthonium chloride and nitrate were synthesized, which in reaction with mesitylenesulfonic acid form tetraphenylbismuthonium mesitylenesulfonate with a yield of up to 73 %.
