The features of the Western Sayan specimens of Spiraea L. from the Sayano-Shushenskiy Biosphere Reserve, previously determined as Spiraea media sensulatoare discussed in this article. Taxonomy status of the specimens was examined and the description of a new species Spiraea sozykinii was given.
