In our opinion, specific sleep disturbances are underlid in pathogenesis of all types of schizophrenia. Delta-sleep deficiency is the reason of the majority of schizophrenia clinical symptoms. We believe that pseudohallucinations, delirium, attention deficit, cognition impairment, all negative symptoms are secondary to delta-sleep deficiency. Antipsychotic drugs affect to synaptic transmission and, in fact, act as behavior modulators. Patients with schizophrenia have to receive antipsychotic drugs therapy whole live. Antipsychotic drugs don’t affect to delta-sleep structure, neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration processes. Neuroleptics don’t alleviate the negative symptoms of schizophrenia. The proposed model of schizophrenia pathogenesis is hypothetic and will improve with the accumulation of knowledge about the brain. But this model gives a whole picture of the disease development and explains the clinical effectiveness of the cytokine therapy usage.
