Is there a need for total digitalization of the criminal process?

The topic of digitalization of criminal proceedings has recently become quite relevant, which has led to a significant interest of specialists in the field of law to it. But how justified is the total digitalization of the criminal process, does it require fundamental changes in the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, as suggested by some researchers? Resolving the issues raised, the article discusses the negative consequences of the implementation of proposals to replace the text protocol of an investigative action with video recording, to create a single online platform for all participants in criminal proceedings, and others. The identified problems should be taken into account in the process of further digitalization of criminal justice.
