The date of birth of Genghis Khan (based on the medieval sources and studies of modern researchers)

This article discusses issues related to the establishment of the date of birth of the founder of the Mongol Empire of Genghis Khan. The main attention is paid to the grounds and arguments in favor of the official version of his birth year - 1162. Based on a comparative analysis of the content of Mongolian historical annals «Altan Tobci», «Erdeni-yin Tobci» and «Sir-a Tu'uji», as well as those annals as «History of the Yuan», «Compendium of Chronicles» by Rashid al-Din highlighted a number of provisions that may be considered as additional evidence to support the official version. Expands upon the circumstances and the particular historical situation that accompanied the creation of medieval Chinese chronicle «History of the Yuan» as well as its importance in determining the chronology of events related to the Mongolian history.
