About gastrointestinal stromal tumors

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, originating from interstitial cell of Cajal or their stem cells. The tumors more frequently occur in the stomach or small intestine, infrequently in the colon and esophagus, and rarely outside the gastrointestinal tract. Considering unceasing interest in the problem of gastrointestinal stromal tumors, search for the best approaches to their diagnostics and treatment, the aim of this article - to present our experience of treatment for this nosology.
