The article analyzes stylistically coloured vocabulary in A. S. Shishkov’s works meant for children. The author of the research identifies the basic functions of Slavonic lexemes and vernacular vocabulary, considering the peculiarities of combination of various stylistically marked elements within one text. The article shows how A. S. Shishkov’s linguistic views affected his creative work in the field of children’s literature.
