About the legal nature of compensation for losses with unaccounted electricity consumption and adjusting its value

The article investigates the legal nature of compensation for losses of Suppliers of electric energy in case of unaccounted consumption of electric energy, on the basis of which it follows that the amount of compensation can be considered as the sum of two values - the amount of actual losses of Suppliers and a penalty penalty. Determining the legal nature of the amount of compensation for losses in case of unaccounted-for consumption of electric energy allows the task of adjusting the amount of compensation, in case of a significant excess of the amount of the penalty penalty compared to the actual losses, to be reduced to the task of adjusting (reducing) the amount of the penalty penalty, for which there is currently a powerful arsenal of civil law norms developed to the smallest detail.
