On the competitiveness of Russian universities

The problem of increasing the competitiveness of Russian universities and the main criterion of their status in the global education market - the position in the global rankings ARWU, THE and QS, - are considered. The article analyzes the methods for constructing global university rankings. It is shown that the methods used by the “Big Three” give advantages to Anglo-Saxon universities, since they are based mainly on scientometric data and subjective evaluations of experts, and the interaction of universities with society is not taken into account. The need for government support for international promotion of developed in Russia «The Three University Missions Moscow International University Ranking» has been substantiated.
