On cultural traditions of golden sewing and weaving in the North Caucasus

The paper considers the forms of the art of gold embroidery and weaving among the peoples of the North Caucasus. The brief review presents the historical picture of the existence and development of one of the unique types of traditional activities of the North Caucasian peoples. The authors conduct a cross-cultural study of style and compositional preferences, determine the general and special features of gold embroidery art, as well as the most common and typical ornamental motifs. The information on the technique and production technology, the materials used and the scope. The process of transferring knowledge and skills, traditions of gold embroidery and weaving is highlighted. The formation of traditions of gold embroidery and weaving, as well as the folding of ornamentation, illustrates the general historical basis that refers us to the Koban culture, which testifies to the spiritual and material unity of the North Caucasian landscape.
