The article argues that the success of the Bolshevik revolution was the result of the situation when the party took the power not only in Petrograd, but simultaneously throughout the state. The author demonstrates the technology of the power takeover using the example of the Upper Volga region (Vladimir, Kostroma and Yaroslavl provinces). The main element that provided the transition of power was the interaction between the average party level, the regional committees, and regional party structures. During the first time of the revolt in the province the power was mainly taken at the level provinces, in order to ensure the support of the Central Bolshevik government. The Bolsheviks’ assumption of power in October 1917 generally was a progressive event, because it prevented the inevitable break-up of the state during the continuance of the political processes, which began in February 1917.
