The author consdiers the problem of the dates of birth and repose of St. Barlaam of Khutyn and his disciple, St. Anthony of Dyma Lake, who, after returning from his voyage (1238-1243) to Nicaea, became the second abbot of the Khutyn Monastery, completed the construction of its stone church, and then founded his own monastery at Dyma Lake. The author argues against the early dating of the repose of St. Barlaam (to 1193) and demonstrates that the correct date for his repose, and for the founding of the St. Anthony of Dyma Lake Monastery, is 1243.
