Scientific approach in the discussion about the importance of the gender studies and the gender legislation for Russia

The question of importance of solving the problem of the gender inequality for Russia is controversial in the national science today. There are social groups in the country, who believe that the usage of the experience of European countries in the implementation of the gender equality policy will lead to the destruction of traditional values and cultural code of the country. This point of view is reflected in the article «Gender soft power strategy of NGO as a tool of reformatting the cultural code of society and state in Russia». The paper discusses the degree of scientific validity of such conclusions. The author shows flaw in the arguments of the opponents and points out the need of the gender legislation. Adoption of the gender equality law is the duty of the state, which have signed the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
