On Some Aspects of Decision-Making using Information Systems

The article is devoted to the issues of decision support using modern information systems. The article analyzes the place and role of the decision support system in the activities of individuals who have the legitimate right to perform this action. It identifies typical errors and inconsistencies that distort the concept of the category under consideration. The article proposes an approach to using the decision support system in the performance of assigned tasks. The object of the study is information systems (regardless of the subject area and focus of the research), and the subject is the decision support system. The research methodology is based on the analysis of existing approaches to determining the place and role of the decision support system, as well as on the authors' experience as decision-makers at various levels of the management hierarchy. The research has shown that the importance of the decision support system is often overestimated, and the theoretical foundations in the subject area are often based on weak technical and economic components. However, it has also been determined that the decision support system is the result of the work of several interconnected specialists with different levels of expertise and purpose. Based on the results of the conducted research, a specific application of the decision support and decisionmaking system has been proposed for the decision-maker's activities, and it has been determined that such a system, at the current stage of management system development, is only one of the ways to assist the decision-maker, given that they are solely responsible for the decision made.
