On the need to harmonize legal regulation of the use of video conferencing and web conferencing in various forms of legal proceedings

The features of the use of video technologies - video conferencing and web conferences - in various forms of Russian legal proceedings are considered; the need for a unified use of the terminology “video conferencing” and “web conferencing” in the procedural legislation of Russia is substantiated; the legal regulation of remote judicial proceedings in courts of various instances under the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation is analyzed, the CPC of the Russian Federation, the CAS of the Russian Federation and the APC of the Russian Federation; it is proposed to make an open list of persons in criminal cases participating in a court session in a remote format; the urgency of introducing web conferencing into the practice of courts when considering criminal cases is noted; attention is drawn to the need for legislative consolidation of procedural mechanisms of interaction between courts of general jurisdiction and arbitration courts for the organization of remote interaction; the conclusion is made about the need to harmonize domestic procedural legislation in terms of the use of remote technologies.
