On the prospects for achieving energy independence in the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District

The article examines the electricity generation and consumption volumes in the regions of the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) from 2005 to 2023. It analyzes the program for the introduction of renewable energy sources (RES) and their impact on energy supply in the regions. Special attention is given to the prospects for achieving energy independence in the energy-deficient subjects of the NCFD. The evaluation of opportunities for improving energy efficiency, developing alternative energy sources, and reducing dependence on external electricity supplies emphasizes the importance of implementing innovative technologies for a sustainable energy future of the district.
