About perspectives of selection of large-seeded forms among oil sunflower cultivars

The researches were conducted during 2006 and 2007 at VNIIMK, Krasnodar. There were studied 45 samples of sunflower (13 open-pollinated varieties, 16 hybrids, 13 inbred lines and three sterile simple hybrids - maternal forms of 3-way hybrids). Open-pollinated varieties Kulundinsky 1, Skorospely 87, and Enisey as well as sunflower hybrids Blizar, Triumph and experimental hybrid combination CMS Kubansky 86 х VK 789 were the most perspective. Their 1000 seed weight varied from 71.9 to 78.7 g. Among parental forms of hybrids sterile simple hybrid Kubansky 48 and inbred lines VK 174, VK 571 and VK 789 were the most promising.
