On increasing the purification of used engine oils in agricultural enterprises

A rational use of engine oils is associated with their cleaning and reuse in units and mechanisms which, according to operating conditions, allow the use of such oils. After the standard service life, these oils are replaced with new ones, and the disposal of used oils due to the lack of a proper system for collecting and processing used engine oils (UEOs) entails an irreversible process of environmental pollution with petroleum products. The illegal discharge of used engine oils in the fertile soil layer leads to the appearance of persistent oil stains, which lead to a decrease in soil fertility. The drainage of used engine oil into water bodies results in a very thin film on the surface of the water. This has a very detrimental effect on the representatives of the animal world living in water bodies. This affects the disappearance of fish due to the difficulty of oxygen supply. The oil film also has a detrimental effect on birds, which die if they touch this film. The most effective process for cleaning UEOs from mechanical impurities is filtration, which can be carried out both in the field of centrifugal and filtering baffles. Fine filtration is usually the final step in the process. The cleaning efficiency depends on the type of material used for filtration. The article presents the results of a study of cleaning UEOs with a fine filter using the following materials: nylon, nickel twill-woven gauze, silk. The article proposes formulae for predicting the hydrodynamic resistance and the efficiency of trapping mechanical particles using woven materials.
