On the causes of foul language in the verbal behavior of young people

Verbal deviations in the youth environment including pupils and students are a rather complex object. The use of foul language for all segments of the population of Russian society is becoming an integral part of colloquial speech. Without the use of swear words people feel uncomfortable. This paper discusses the main reasons for using profanity. In May 2018, a study was conducted in the city of Belgorod in order to understand the causes and consequences of using obscene expressions, the attitude to profanity as a sign of deviant verbal behavior of young people. A sociological survey was carried out using questionnaires. The questions touched upon the state, dynamics and causes of deviations in verbal behavior, approaches to counteracting verbal deviations, as well as conditions that exclude these deviations.
