The nature of the rule of thumb, Simcha-Boyer for the jump of thermal expansion coefficient of glass-forming systems at the glass transition temperature. It is shown that for substances of different chemical structure of the relative change in volume in the range of the glass transition temperature to the melting temperature is constant.
