The article analyzes the problem of the boundary between the social and the biological as two dimensions of the human essence. It is shown that they are in complex hierarchical relations, interpenetrate and mutually intertwine one another. Being a pair of dialectical opposites, they are in deep inseparable unity. It is also problematic to establish the limits of the «shadow system» as a direct foundation of sociality, its delimitation from the rest of human biology. The conclusion is drawn that the very concept of the boundary in this case is metaphysical, as it simplifies and coarsens the real state of affairs and is rather imposed by a formal-logical apparatus of thinking. The application of the concept of «boundary» to the problem of social and biological communication in human is irrelevant, since there is a paradoxical conclusion that it is «everywhere and nowhere»: the absence of a clear demarcation generates the dangerous arbitrariness of its conduct within a particular theory.
