The role of exchange control by Russian customs authorities

The research discusses the basics of exchange control by customs authorities, evaluates its importance as a mechanism for ensuring the economic security of the state. The urgency of defining the role of exchange control maintained by customs agencies is due to the fact that present-day suspicious currency transactions are mainly represented by transactions based on foreign trade contracts involving the supply of goods. The study identifies the categories of currency offenses which pose a particular threat to the state in the form of illegal capital outflow: the non-receipt of currency export earnings and the non-recovery of import advance payments. The author reveals the particular significance of the information interaction between customs authorities and authorized banks in order to prevent suspicious foreign exchange transactions.
