The similarities and differences of the Russian and Ukrainian nations in terms of national genesis and ethnogenesis

This article was written after the examination of the articles of G.A. Avanesova and E.V. Ivanova, published in the No 4 and 5 of the magazine «Power», 2015. Particular attention is paid to some historical aspects and figures of Ukraine. An attempt to comment some points of the articles is undertaken.
