To the socio-psychological adaptation of students in high school

The article deals with the concept of adaptation, social and psychological adaptation, learning motivation, peculiarities of professional education activity. The theoretical foundations of studying students’ social and psychological adaptation and academic motivation were highlighted. The structure of social and psychological adaptation of a person, the description of students’ professional education activity and the system of educational activity motives were given. In the article we displayed the main features and conditions of student’ social and psychological adaptation. In the empirical study the differences in indicators of social-psychological adaptation and motives of students’ educational activity were revealed. To investigate social-psychological adaptation of high school freshmen, motivation of professional education activity we used the technique of K. Rogers and R. Diamond - diagnostics of socio-psychological adaptation and methods of studying educational activity motives in modification of A. A. Rean, V. A. Yakunin. The research found that professional education activity was prompted by different motives: social, communicative, professional, educational, etc. Social and professional reasons had the greatest importance for students, and less significant were educational and informative. The statically significant relations between indicators of socio-psychological adaptation and professional education motives (communicative, educational and cognitive, motives of prestige) were set.
