The article offers a look at the structure of Russian conjunctions in the aspect of general linguistic problems of morphology, distinctness and identity of a word. An element is the smallest significant part of a conjunction's structure; a component is the biggest one. Elements may include sub-elements. Components may consist of a single element or several elements. As morphemic units, components and elements realize their meanings only in the structure of specific conjunctions. The concept of variation expands to the structure of a conjunction. Taking this into account, it may be said that the structure of a conjunction is a systematically organized unity of its material parts - components and elements, as well as their combinations.
