The study analyzes the major aspects of political socialization of the Russian youth in the early twenty-first century that affect the development of its political subjectivity. Factors and problems in developing and fulfilling the political potential of the younger generation are defined. Personal, social, cultural, political, and historical changes have a different impact on young citizens, thus creating the generational differences in political attitudes and behavioral patterns. The author emphasizes the civic education, the role of different forms of political involvement and civic engagement when achieving the political potential of the Russian youth and its role in further integration into public policy. The research identifies that the creation of an effective model of the youth political socialization requires the constructive cooperation between the state (the necessity to update the priorities for the state youth policy at the national and regional levels) and the institutions of the civil society, in particular youth organizations and associations. The emphasis is made on further sociological studies of the Russian youth, the development of a general theory of political socialization.
