The article analyzes the most significant scientific and theoretical works of Professor I. Ya. Kozachenko: textbooks on criminal law and criminology, monographs, materials of scientific and practical conferences, articles in scientific publications. The main scientific directions of his published works are highlighted. First of all, it is the "preaching" of the main function of criminal law, in his opinion, the protection of human rights and freedoms, expressed in adherence to the norms and principles of international law. It is noted that this area of the author's scientific research is of particular importance in the dramatically changed geopolitical conditions of direct clashes between the official West (NATO, the European Union, the leadership of many major European countries), its rabid anti-Russian propaganda (especially aggressive information warfare) and the Russian Federation to protect the last independence of its state, the life and health of not only the Russian-speaking population., but also others living in Ukraine. The central place in characterizing I. Ya. Kozachenko's creative contribution to the Russian doctrine of criminal law is occupied by the analysis of one of their most "notable" in scientific terms (from the point of view of scientific novelty) is the author's detailed analysis of a genuine criminal law and criminological "masterpiece" — a book written by him in collaboration with D. N. Sergeev "New criminalization. A philosophical and scientific guide to the world of crime and the criminal" (Yekaterinburg: SAPIENTIA, 2020. 256 p.). At the same time, the author of the article highlights the scientific novelty of such chapters of this monograph: "The foundations of criminalization", "Ethics and criminalization", "Justice of the new criminalization", "Rational criminalization". The article concludes with a theoretical analysis of Kozachenko's book "Truth and Law", which contains court speeches by famous domestic and foreign lawyers. (St. Petersburg, 2003), which is so in demand in modern law enforcement.
