On the typology of a semiotic drift in the space of religious semiosis

Elements of semiosis have the quality to change their semiotic characteristics depending on the context of functioning. We define this as «semiotic drift». The most common form of semiotic drift is the interchange between symbol and sign displayed by a semiotic element. However, in religious discourse semiotic drift is located between the categories of symbol and metaphor. The article justifies the assumption that it is this particular feature of the religious semiosis that ensures the stability of the functioning of religious systems.
