It describes the results of pedagogical and academic experiment on teaching traditional singing to students. Musical material of the experiment is polyphonic folk songs of Seto ethnic group (south-eastern Estonia), which are based on half-tone and one and a half tone row. Acoustic pitch analysis of structure helps to compare the original recording and students performance. It discusses the possibilities and ways of auditory acquisition of archaic modus.
