The paper "Emergence of Settlements in Korchag Valley" demonstrated that the Korchag valley was inhabited by the man since the ancient times. The earliest monument (the Nyutyugsky settlement) referred to the Chalcolithic Age (V-IV Millennia B.C.) and the Early Bronze Age (III-II thousand years B.C.). In the Medieval Age and Modern History the Korchagian Lezghins were closely integrated into the history of the main ethnic population of Lezghins and particularly Tabasaran, being incorporated into political and administrative structure of the latter from the XVI century until the first decades of the Soviet rule, and further till the new zoning carried out in 1929.
