On the crop production and lodging protection in barley due to the application of hormonal retardant

In some crop varieties, a mismatch of the adaptive properties of plants to climatic conditions of the temperate zone requires application of retardants, which delay a subapical meristem stretching and contribute to crop protection from lodging. In field experiments, we determined the conditions for the application of Kampozan M, an ethylene producer, to ensure the yield increase in spring and winter barley and plant protection from lodging without negative effects and the aftereffects to the plants. It was found that the use of this retardant in the beginning of generative stage of ontogenesis in the conditions, favorable for high yield, provides crop resistance to lodging, improves the structure of the yield and helps to increase the yield, even if compared with that one in the control plants with no lodging.
