Статья посвящена парадигмам и основным принципам возведения храмового комплекса на многослойном поселении Телля Хазна I в Северной Месопотамии (IV - первая треть III тыс. до н. э.), исследованном раскопками Российской экспедиции. Автор приходит к выводу, что факторами, определявшими особенности возведения и функционирования комплекса, были, с одной стороны, географическое положение поселения и характер внешних влияний на Северную Месопотамию, а с другой стороны - морфологические особенности памятника, в частности, процессы формирования культурного слоя, предшествовавшего монументальному строительству на поселении.
