In order to obtain a favorable result in the process of teaching English, teachers need to devote a lot of time and effort to find the most suitable and effective teaching methods. The increasing number of applied modern tools and technological devices contributes to the development of this process. Currently, teachers use tools such as videos, podcasts, banks, electronic platforms, applications and websites accessible through computers or smartphones when teaching English. Using a wide range of multimedia can improve the quality of education and the efficiency of teaching English. Accordingly, the teachers’ objective is to provide students with the opportunity to gain permanent experience with the tools and programs available nowadays. As modern technology and the Internet is increasingly becoming part of our daily lives, the issue of “Technology vs. non-technology” should be raised. The use of smart devices does not reject traditional methods or undermine their importance, it supports and completes the entire learning process, offering alternative forms of knowledge dissemination and implementation. Although most schools are equipped with modern technological devices and are connected to the Internet, digital technol ogy is used in the educational process very irregularly and its application depends largely on the initiative of teachers or school administrations. There is a need to create a single comprehensive policy on smart learning within the education system itself. The purpose for the research is toanalyze and improve the practice of using modern smart technology in teaching English. The paper discusses various ways of using this type of technology in education and issues existing in this area.
