The article discusses the ethymology of the ethnic names “Buryat”, “Bargut” and “Bordzhigin” in connection with ethnogenetic origins of the Buryat-Mongolian School of the Martial Arts - “Shonyn-Basha” (“The Heavenly Wolf”). The authors suggest the possibility that these ethnonyms are ethymologically related to the ethnogeographical notion of “Bargudzhin-Tohum” and with zoomorphic totemic ancestors of the Turks and the Mongols of Inner Asia, who became patrons of the totemic Buryat-Mongolian School of the Martial Arts “Shonynbasha”. At the same time put forward the concept that the ethnonym b r in the form of “b r ga”, which means “descended from Heaven ancestor Wolf”, became the basis for the ethnonym “Barga” and the toponym “Barguzin”, from which derives the concept of “Bargudzhin-Tohum”. The name ancestor “of the Mongols of Genghis Khaan” -Borte-Chino, according to the authors, is also associated with the ethnonym b r, which in this case is repeated twice in the ancient Turkic and Mongolian forms. In turn, the word “Bordzhigin” is also associated with both ethnonyms b r and Bargut, on the one hand, and with the toponym Barguzin -on the other.
