The paper deals with the problem of social structure of the Finno-Ugric population in the Pre-Ural region in the period from the end of the 4th till the beginning of the 9th century AD (the Nevolinskaya Culture). The successes in producing economy, the high population density and high levels of metal craft conduced to the creation of a significant surplus. A special group of traders supplied goods to Fennoscandia. Different products were systematically entranced in the Kama region from Central Asia, Byzantium and Sassanid Iran. We can draw conclusions about the existence of the cult of the leader and the economic isolation of a nuclear family in the Finno-Ugric society during the studied period.
