The urgent task of all the humanities of our country is the task of Russia's origin knowledge, the identification of its deep historical roots. Purpose: to analyze the main points of the evolution of one of the sociocultural models of the origin of Russia over a fairly long period - from the late 40s of the last century and up to the present day. Methods: when writing the article, the author was guided by interdisciplinary and civilizational approaches, certain provisions of the Eurasian theory. General scientific and specific scientific methods were used: problem-theoretical, comparative-historical, formal-logical, combination of civilizational, institutional and functional, regional and local approaches. The results of the study revealed the strengths and weaknesses of the Alanist Rusi model, in which too much remains hypothetical. Within its framework, some issues find their solution and others remain unresolved. The Turkic component is marked, but not disclosed not only in relation to Ancient Russia, but also in relation to the «Alan Russian Khaganate». The imbalance between the historical and the logical has not yet been resolved, increasing the vulnerability of this model to criticism. But the vitality of such a model is an evidence of the relevance of the Eurasian approach to the history of Russia, to the identification of its real sociocultural origins.
