About basic approaches to the definition of tolerance

Today people’s interconnections and their interaction within communities are becoming more and more complicated and intense. Such complexity can provoke the increasing of the level of the conflict intensity in the society. Such situation can keep up to date the problem of tolerance and there is a necessity to clarify the essence of “tolerance”. Speaking about the concept “tolerance” there is no agreement concerning its meaning. It is more correct to speak about different approaches in defining it. The greater part of researches considers the notion “tolerance” wider in its meaning then the notion “patience” as it includes the activity of moral stand of the relational subject. More often tolerance is deemed as the basic principle, the existential value. The different situations of tolerance demonstration are studied. Special emphasis is given to study of the subject of the tolerant attitude. Tolerance is analyzed as the basis of the dialogue formation. The further research of tolerance is connected to system approach and interdisciplinarity.
