The article is devoted to the Soviet social policy of motherhood and childhood support during the last years of the Great Patriotic War and the postwar period. The author analyzed an archive document -Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (July, 8, 1944) «On increasing state aid to pregnant women, mothers of many children and single mothers, motherhood and childhood protection, establishing the highest award - Mother-heroine, Motherhood Order and Motherhood Medal». The author studies its impact on the improvement of living conditions of certain groups of population during the post-war period.
