The article presents the result of a comparative content analysis of international legal norms on the protection of the institution of family. Both early documents that were adopted by UN member countries on a consensus basis, and modern ones, which did not find full support of the organization’s members and were adopted without international consensus are analyzed. The main conclusion is that the modern UN strategy on the issue of protecting the institution of family is being implemented outside of international and scientific discussion; work is underway to transform the meanings, terminology and norms of law in this area. Our research confirms that the latest UN demographic policy is aimed at supporting small, childless, non-family, non-traditional reproductive choice in order to establish a restrictive regime for the reproduction of the world population.
