The article examines the role and importance of ensuring food security in the sustainable socio-economic development of the region. Special attention will be paid to the problem and prospects of ensuring food security of the population of the region as a factor of sustainable development. The problem of sustainable domestic food production in the region, as a consequence of the country's food independence, is considered. The state of production of the main agricultural products in the region is analyzed. The factors influencing the provision of food security of the population in the context of sustainable development of the region are noted. A number of recommendations are proposed to improve the provision of food security of the population in the context of sustainable development of the region.
